Does YOUR VOTE count?
Yesterday, Thursday, March 13, 2008, this question came to mind, when reading the newspaper and listening to different media stations on television and radio. Does YOUR VOTE count? Why? I live in the state of Michigan. It was not just a weird wake-up, start-of-day frame-of-mind, full of fantasy and dreams. It was a disheartening day as a Voter.
Yes. I vote. Even though growing-up I was made to feel that my vote made no guarantee, but it lent my feelings and opinions. I have the opportunity to sway people with knowledge, facts, and opinion. So, why vote? If in any way that I can, I wish to make a difference in life, in patronage to all of my Fore father’s and what they all went through to make life in the United States a better place. Back in the day, there were wars, wars used to protect the people from others that did not want us to have rights. The First Amendment offers us freedom of religion, freedom of speech, and we need to protect our Right to Vote. What are you, as a United States Citizen, willing to do to protect that Right to Vote? I am willing to write CNN to try and get my voice heard. Not just in the states of Michigan and Florida, but throughout the whole country.
How would you as a citizen of one of the other 48 states like to be told that your vote did not count, the candidates did not like how you voted, and expect you to RE-VOTE. I do not believe that I can take people that voted and since have passed (as-in died), out of the grave to re-vote. We vote at times before we even know what candidates will even remain in the race for the Presidential Position. This is not just paying for a recount, but a private citizen in the state of Michigan wants to fork-out the cost of an election (re-election of a person for the first time???). Those who have money should not be able to control the Voting process. Those individuals do not pay my taxes, they get tax-breaks from state and local institutions to bring business there, even when the jobs being hired are minimum wage or jobs not being offered to the local citizens in the location of said business.
Last time I checked, I cannot sell my vote. So how is it that someone intends to buy off my vote and all those that have since died after the primaries???? We read and study information provided by the media for months before voting as to whom we believe will do best for the candidacy of President of the United States of America. Some people make it a point to work for the parties to help them get elected. Second time around, it will not happen.
Nobody likes to lose. The candidate I voted for is no longer even in the running. Democrats chose NOT to come to Michigan or go to Florida. Yes, we were robbed in some respects because of their decision as a party of lawmakers. I do not vote by party except when forced by an election. I do not vote a straight ticket. I vote my knowledge, due to facts and my personal opinion. Other voters, like myself, decided that if a party does not wish to represent themselves with the individuals for the candidacy the previously stated position, then, the individuals due not believe that they need, want, or deserve our VOTES!
They are not attempting to recall a person after voting due to doing something wrong. This is an attempt for a private individual in the state of Michigan wanting the Democrats vote for us to Re-vote so that our Michigan Democratic Delegates can go to a convention.
This is the wrong thing to do. This is do-do, and also an attempt as a do-it-again, or a do-over. This is a We Voted state. Not a Wii Game System. Voting is not a game; it is a responsibility of the voters to vote. Accept it, learn from it, and move on. Suggest that private citizens either put that money into the desperate communities that need it, or towards all of the local, state, and federal government budgets that they do not know how to keep.

It's not the counting or re-counting of the votes, but a private citizen in Michigan wanting to fund a revote that is a concern. Does your vote count?
